The Black Stork golf resort in Veľká Lomnica, on the sunny side of the High Tatras, is a favourite destination not only for golfers but also for golf tournaments, golf academies and corporate events throughout the year. It offers a 27-hole course, practice areas, professional golf coaches and, of course, equipment rental.

The story of the golf resort

The story of the Black Stork golf complex began with the first golfing experience of Jiří Hruška, who in 1984 was present at the signing of a government agreement with Ruhrgas in West Germany. “The document was being prepared at a golf course, and that was the first time I encountered this noble game. I liked it. My partner played and I carried his clubs,” recalls the president of the Lomnica Golf Club, Jiří Hruška. Wanting to give the Tatras something extra, he decided to build a golf course beneath them. His enthusiasm carried him through the demanding years of consolidating and buying up land around Veľká Lomnica. Even when those around him did not always believe in the idea, what mattered was that he found understanding in a successful co-investor. Courage and the belief that it could work gradually turned dreams into reality. Golf returned to the Tatras in 1999 on the first practice meadow. A year later a natural 9-hole course was open, and four years after that a covered driving range was added. By then things were moving so fast that six years later an 18-hole course stood complete, with a new hotel and outstanding facilities for every golf lover beneath the High Tatras. Another nine holes followed later, an aquapark is planned, and the dreams and visions go further still.
